NOTE: All cars all classes must have COWTOWN Speedway approved UNALTERED mufflers. Mufflers to be installed in a
maximum pipe of 3" with perforated installed towards the car engine.
NOTE: Mods & Sprints allowed 3 I/2" mufflers max & 3 pipe only.
Approved mufflers can be purchased at Smiley's Racing
1. Chassis
a. Cars must be 1960 or newer, stock passenger car, station wagon, El Camino or Ranchero
b. No convertibles, or sports car allowed.
c. No Chevrolet Camero's or Pontiac Firebird's
d. Frame, body and engine must be stock for make
e. Minimum stock factory wheel base of 108"
2. Body
a. Stock no Modifications allowed
b. All body chrome, glass, plastic and interior must be removed.
c. All doors and truck lid must be bolted or welded shut.
d. All head light, tail light and parking light assemblies must be removed.
e. Body must be neat and have stock front firewall or acceptable firewall of at least 20 gauge metal. Rear firewall may be stock,
with all openings sealed, or may be metal of at least 20 gauge thickness. In either case, the top, bottom and both sides must
be sealed with no openings.
f. Stock appearing floorboard, trunk floor, and rear fender wells required
g. Front windshield area must be covered with an approved driver protection screen or three (3) bars.
(Both are recommended)
h. Track reserves the right to request body sheet metal to be replaced should it become a hazard.
3. Weight
a. Minimum weight 3200 pounds with driver after race.
b. Any added weight must be securely bolted or welded to the car.
4. Suspension
a. Front suspension must be A-frame type. Upper and lower A-frames must match frame.
b. Must have O. E. M. hubs. Right front may be safety, truck or heavy duty.
c. Front and rear suspension must remain stock and in there original location. Rear spring buckets allowed.
d. Heavy-duty shocks will be allowed, one per wheel (any location).
e. Suspension may not be reinforced.
f. Suspension may not be modified in any way.
g. Weight jacks allowed. No coil-overs.
5. Steering
a. Stock steering box must be in original stock location.
b. Steering wheel may be moved by U -joint, chain and sprockets or aftermarket steering reduction box that does not exceed
$200 advertised retail price.
c. No center steering.
d. Steering wheel and driver must be on left side of driveshaft hump. No modification of hump allowed.
e. No rear seat drivers.
f. No rack and pinion steering allowed
6. Bumpers
a. Front bumper must be constructed of 1-1/2" O.D. x .095 tubing no wider than bumper horns.
b. Uprights no wider than bumper horns. Must be a maximum of 1-1/2" x .095, 12" overall height including bumper.
c. Leading edge of bumper may not extend forward more than the stock bumper.
d. Rear bumper may be stock or 1-3/4" x .095 tubing no wider than center of rear tires.
e. Bumpers must have rounded ends no sharp edges.
f. Bumper loops of a maximum of 10" on rear ad may be no wider than bumper horns.
g. Nerfbars between front and rear wheels are optional. If used must be single tube only and within 1" of body and turned
inside of body or may be 1" x 2" square tube bolted against body with no sharp edges.
General Drivetrain Requirements
1 Engine
a. Any automotive engine originally produced by an American manufacturer for passenger car use only.
b. Make is optional. GM in GM, Ford in Ford, Chrysler in Chrysler
c. Stock number of cylinders for make and model of car.
d. MAX 362 CU Inch, Flat Top Piston
e. Cast O.E.M. blocks only must remain stock bore and stroke combination.
f. O.E.M. heads only. No polishing, porting or port matching allowed. Heads must be factory drilled straight plugs.
g. No GM angle plug, bow-tie or aluminum heads allowed. No Vortec or vertical intake bolt heads allowed.
h. O.E.M. crankshaft and connecting rods. Stock stroke only.
i. Flat tappet cam allowed.
j. Fluid dampers OK
k. No racing, roller or overhead cams No roller lifters or gear drives allowed.
1. Roller rocker arms are allowed
m. Carburetors
1. No modification including cutting, polishing, grinding or matching allowed on any carburetor except the choke
hardware may be removed.
2. One (1) American manufactured two barrel or four-barrel carburetor.
3. Must bolt to stock cast iron manifold without alteration of mounting hole pattern and without any adapter or spacer
plates.
4. Only one gasket with a minimum thickness may be installed between intake and carburetor.
5. No double pumpers or dual line
6. Holley spread bore with vacuum secondary allowed on GM cars Must bolt to stock cast iron manifold without
spacer or adapter plate and no altering of bolt holes.
7. Holley carburetor, #4412, two barrel, 500CFM (on cast iron intake, with maximum 1-1/4" adapter only)
8. Stock venturi bore, stock throttle body, stock booster location and height, (to be check by go no-go gauge)
n. Stock cast iron intake manifolds or chassis style headers allowed
o. Intake manifold # 14096011 and # 1496242 not allowed
p. Battery type ignition only. No magnetos or dual point ignitions allowed.
q. The use of fuel injection, super or turbo chargers, nitrous oxide or water injection is not allowed.
r. Engine must be in stock location. No cutting or extension of firewalls to accommodate engine allowed.
s. No bow tie-parts allowed
2. Transmissions
a. Automatic only with a minimum 11" working torque converter.
b. Car must have self starter and working neutral and reverse gear. All cars must be able to leave pits under their own power
c. From neutral position, with engine running, the car must be able to go forward and backward
d. Driveshaft must be painted white and have a mandatory safety loop.
3.Rear end
a. Rear end may be locked by welding spider gears, spool or mini spool only.
b. Ford 9" allowed in stock location
c. No floaters or quick changes
4. Brakes
a. All cars must have brakes with a minimum of two (2) wheel brakes working in order.
b. Three (3) or Four (4) wheel brakes are recommended.
c. Brake test may be held throughout the year.
C. General Requirements
1. Roll Cage
a. Roll cage mandatory
b. Minimum 1-1/2" O.D. x.120 wall tubing is required. 1-3/4" O.D. requires a .095 wall thickness
c. Front and rear roll bars must be connected at the top
d. Top bars must be at least 2" above drivers head
e. At least 3 side door bars running from front upright to rear upright in each door is mandatory
f. Proper bracing and triangulation on front and rear roll bars is required.
2. Wheels
a. Steel wheels only. Maximum rim width of 8"
b. One valve stem per wheel. No bleed-off valves allowed.
c. Bead lock allowed on right rear
3. Tires
a. Hoosier 500 (10.0/27.0-15 500)****ONLY******
NO PULL-OFF'S ALLOWED
b. No Grooving, sipping, no softening allowed, Tires will be check by durometer
4. Exhaust System
a. Mufflers are required. (See General Racing rules)
b. Stock cast iron exhaust manifolds must exhaust under the spark plugs. c. No ram horn type exhaust manifold.
5. Fuel Tank
a. One 22 U.S. Gallon maximum approved plastic tank or fuel cell is allowed.
b. Tank must be mounted in the trunk area in metal box and not visible from interior.
c. No pressure tank allowed in fuel system
d. Rubber tubing must protect fuel lines running through the driver's compartment. No cast iron fittings
e. Only fuel type hose may be used for fuel line. Steel braided hose is recommended.
f. No electric fuel pump.
g. Trunk floor may not be removed, but must have a way of lettering gas escape, such as drain holes
h. No chassis style headers allowed
6. Fuel
a. Gasoline only
7. Radiator
a. Only one radiator. Must be centered in front of engine in a vertical position.
b. No auxiliary cooling tanks allowed.
8. Battery
a. Must be securely mounted and covered with sheet rubber or mounted in marine box to prevent acid spill
b. Battery must be in good working order, capable of starting car.
9. Seat
a. One (1) driver's seat securely mounted within original location.
b. May be racing type seat
c. Seat location must be 30" from the center of rear end housing to lower back bottom of drivers seat.
10. Engine Check
a. Track may tear down any engine, anytime, with no money.

establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by
participants are deemed to have complied with these rules.

are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant,
spectator or official.
The race director shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein or imposed any further
restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. No expressed or implied warranty of safety
shall result from such alteration of specifications. Any interpretation or deviation from these rules is left to the discretion of
the officials. Their decision is final.
